Berlin-Tegel

Airport Tegel is the biggest and most important airport of Berlin. It is located in the district, called Reinickendorf in the north-western part of the City and handles the international, as well as national line haul of the biggest airlines.
On the one hand, regular bus routes connect the airport with the nearest metro stations. For example, the bus lines 109 and 128 travel to Kurt-Schumacher-Platz on the metro line U6 and to Jakob-Kaiser-Platz (U7). On the other hand, the JetExpressBus TXL offers a very fast connection between Hauptbahnhof in the centre and the airport. Further, the X9 is an express bus, which drives directly to Bahnhof Zoo, which is another important junction, especially for the public transportation.
Furthermore, Tegel possesses a feeder street (A111) at the Kreuz Oranienburg from the highway A10. Besides, the road to the airport and from there to the centre of Berlin is signposted well. However, you should schedule various tailbacks, as there are no alternative paths.
As now the reconstruction of the Airport Schönefeld to "Airport Berlin Brandenburg International"  has been started, a closing of Tegel is expected.

Berlin-Schönefeld

About  22 Kilometres southwards from the downtown area of Berlin, the Airport Schönefeld is located. It is also well connected to the centre by means of the public transportation. The S-Bahn (suburban railway) routes S9 and S49, as well as the Regionalbahn (stopping train) travel from the most important junctions, such as Hauptbahnhof, Alexanderplatz or Zoologischer Garten, directly to Schönefeld. The Airport-Express passes the city centre and connects Schönefeld with western district, called Spandau.
Since the end of the year 2008, another Express Bus (SXF1) connects Südkreuz with the Terminal of Schönefeld, which costs €6. Other bus routes, which drive directly to the airport building, are the lines 171, 162 and the night routes N60 and N46. The bus routes 163 and 736 drive to S-Bahnof Schönefeld, from which a bus shuttle drives directly to the terminal free of charge.
Note: Schönefeld is located in the Sector C, which needs to be considered when purchasing a ticket for the public transportation. (Further information about the different sectors of the public transportation can be found in the category “Local Transport” / “Local Public Transport”)
The aiport possesses an own feeder street – the A113, which diverges from the motorway A10 at the junction (Autobahnkreuz) Schönefeld. Already at the motorway there are signposting to the airport, making the arrival very easy.
Airport Schönefeld is under enormous construction since 2006. The planned reconstruction of Airport Schönefeld to "Airport Berlin Brandenburg International" happens partly on the area of the current airport area and southwards.
